Grape Harvest and the Grand Cru Route

Every year, from late summer through mid-fall, the Côte de Nuits comes alive with the rhythm of the grape harvest. At L’Orée des Vignes in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, this season is the perfect opportunity to explore the vineyards, meet the winemakers, and enjoy seasonal cuisine at the Bistrot de l’Ô, between walks along the Route des Grands Crus.

The Grape Harvest Season in the Côte de Nuits

Depending on the vintage, the grape harvest runs from late August to mid-October. This period brings the wine-growing villages around the hotel to life: the rows of vines take on shades of gold and copper, while the cellars buzz with a special energy. It’s an atmosphere to be experienced both in the vineyards and from the hotel’s terrace, just a few steps away from the vineyards.

Our Partners for Exploring the Vineyards

To help you make the most of your stay, L’Orée des Vignes works with several local partners who introduce guests to the region’s wine heritage: Les Voûtes, for a tour of the Burgundy wine cellars, and the Cassissium, a museum and distillery dedicated to blackcurrants in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

The hotel holds the “Vignobles et Découvertes” certification, ensuring a cohesive wine tourism experience throughout your stay.

The Grands Crus Route, just a stone’s throw from the hotel

The Grands Crus Route, which winds through the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, is particularly well-suited for a drive or an electric bike ride, especially in the fall: L’Orée des Vignes has partnered with La Solexerie, an electric bike rental company, so you can set off directly from the hotel.

In 2026, this legendary route will celebrate its 90th anniversary with a program of events organized by the Côte-d’Or department throughout the season—yet another opportunity to (re)discover it.

Fall Cuisine at the Bistrot de l’Ô

At the Bistrot de l’Ô, the menu changes with the harvests and market offerings. In the fall, game, mushrooms, and seasonal vegetables come together to create a local, gourmet dining experience, served Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, either indoors or on the patio terrace overlooking the vineyards, as long as the weather permits.
